Lecture: LINSTOR: Reliable Storage for HA, DR, Clouds and Containers

Linstor is an open source project that provides reliable block storage building on a set of x86 Linux machines with direct attaches storage like HDDs, SSDs or NVMEs. On the software side it builds on top of LVM or ZFS's zVols, DRBD optionally dm-crypt. Planned is support for VDO and NVMe-oF via the Swordfish API.
Noth bound currently an integration to Kubernetes exists, with integrations to OpenStack, OpenNebula and Proxmox planed.
The presentation will provide a rough overview of each part (LVM, ZFS, dm-crypt, VDO, ...) and explain how the parts get combined by LINSTOR and DRBD.
Finally it will set the Software Defined Storage system in relation two other open software in the field: OpenSDS and Stratis. In the Q&A section will for sure touch the toppic how it relates to Ceph's Rados Block Devices.
