Programming challenges while creating an open-source game with developers all over the world
During the +15 years of development, there have been many challenges for the RTS game 0 A.D. Seven years ago, the project's closed-source development stagnated. Now, the open-source reincarnation of the project is reaching beta stage.
In this presentation we'll give an insight into how the game is developed, what problems there have been and how we overcame them. We'll give you a thorough look under the hood at the game engine and you'll find out how we optimized the pathfinder, and how the multiplayer component works.
